About the Columbus Temple

The Columbus temple is a part of The International Society for Krishna Consciousness, or ISKCON. ISKCON is also known as the Hare Krishna movement, which was started by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada in 1966. The Krishna House has been a part of Columbus since 1969, although it has changed locations within the city a few times. Currently the temple is located in the midst of the OSU campus.

Formerly, the Columbus Krishna House was recognized as ISKCON's only "Mataji Mandir", meaning it was an ashram for female devotees only. However, we now have the fortunate addition of male devotees to the ashram. This addition to our growing group of congregational members has enhanced the preaching capacities and enthused our congregational supporters.

Purpose of this website

The purpose of this site is to introduce visitors to the Columbus temple, to inform everyone of our events and programs, and to invite you to come and visit us at the Columbus temple! Since we have so much going on at the temple, this site is dedicated more towards our specific temple than to Krishna Consciousness as a whole. If you are a newcomer to Krishna Consciousness and would like to know more about the Krishna religion, philosophy, books, history, or about being a devotee, we suggest you check out our Links page. There you will find many links to sites with a wealth of information.
