Krishna House devotees attend New York City Ratha Yatra, June 9th

Cart on 5th Avenue

On June 9th, devotees from all over the United States attended the New York City Ratha Yatra, one of the largest Ratha Yatras in the country. About 15 devotees and congregational members of the Columbus temple made the trip from Ohio to New York for this annual event. Devotees pulled the carts of Balarama, Subhadra, and Jagannatha from 59th Street for 50 blocks through the heart of Manhattan travelling straight down 5th Avenue. They chanted, danced, and had ecstatic kirtans all the way to Washington Square Park where the Festival of India was being held. The Festival of India had many events including traditional Indian dances, prasadam distribution, book and devotional merchandise sales, and information about Krishna Consciousness.

The next day, devotees held a special program in Tompkins Square Park under the tree that Srila Prabhupada chanted under. They held kirtans for hours and answered the questions of the curious. Prasadam was distributed out of the 26 Second Avenue temple where Srila Prabhupada used to give lectures to his first disciples. That evening, devotees traveled to the Brooklyn Temple for ecstatic kirtans and an incredible program. The Deities, Sri Sri Radha Govinda, wore a new outfit for the occasion.

The Festival of India travels all over the United States making appearances. They may be coming soon to a city near you, so be certain to check the Festival of India website for information.

H.H. Radhanatha Swami visits Krishna House May 24th

On May 24th, the Krishna House was honored by the presence of two very special guests, His Holiness Radhanatha Swami and His Holiness Candramauli Swami.

There was virtually no room left but standing room at the Columbus Krishna House as Radhanatha Swami led the entire congregation in ecstatic kirtans. Many devotees traveled to see and hear His Holiness discuss the transcendental pastimes of Lord Krishna. Right before the feast, H.H. Radhanatha Swami lead another wonderful kirtan. His Holiness then stayed in Columbus to have darshan with the devotees on Friday. Now his busy schedule takes him all over the country where many devotees wait eagerly for his arrival. Most likely we will have the honor of Radhanatha Swami's presence at the New York City Ratha Yatra.

We certainly hope Radhanatha Swami will again be joining us at the Krishna House. We'll keep you posted!

Nrsimhadeva's Appearance Day Celebrated in Columbus and New Vrindavan

Nrsimhadeva in NV on His Appearance Day On Sunday, May 6th, the Krishna House celebrated the Appearance Day of Lord Nrsimhadeva. The program featured Nrsimha prayers, huge kirtans, the telling of the Pastimes of Lord Nrsimha, and a huge prasadam feast.

However, a good portion of our congregation traveled to New Vrindavan for the Appearance Day festival there. The New Vrindavan youth presented a short skit of the story of Lord Nrsimhadeva and Kripamaya presented the story of Nrsimhadeva along with music. The Lord then made His appearance with flashing lights and smoke pouring out of the altar. Click here to see Nrsimhadeva on His Appearance Day. He was presented with tons of special prasadam, which was later auctioned off along with an article of His clothing. Devotees had the opportunity to bathe His feet as an incredible kirtan went on and on. The festival concluded with a huge maha feast.

For more information on Lord Nrsimhadeva, there is a wonderful site dedicated to Him at http://www.nrsimha.com that tells the story of Nrsimhadeva. You can also have darshan and link to other great sites about Nrsimhadeva. There is also Nrsimha darshan here on this site.
